Last week, John Carroll University’s World View magazine released its first semi-annual issue. Published by eight JCU students, the magazine focuses on local, national and global issues concerning social justice and human rights. It includes research, literature and photography to help stimulate the minds of students and increase awareness of the surrounding world.

World View magazine is the first publication of its kind on campus and is an example of what student organizations are capable of creating in order to engage students. The editors of the magazine have shown leadership by taking the initiative to find another means of educating the student body and should be commended on their dedication to the publication.

The editors of World View are always open to new staff members and encourage all students to submit any work they feel is appropriate to the publication.

World View serves as a liaison between what’s being learned in the classroom and action taking place in the community. It provides an open forum where students can share experiences that had a profound affect on them.

World View magazine is not just telling about ideas or experiences, it is showing these things through a professional, well-organized and thorough piece of literature. Students that belong to clubs should see this magazine as an example of proactivity and try to implement the same assertiveness.
