THE CARROLL NEWS: The Nominees for the 2008 Robert Beaudry Award The Nominees for the 2008 Robert Beaudry Award ================================================================================ Staff on 03 April, 2008 02:00:00 The Beaudry Award is named in honor of JCU graduate Robert Beaudry, who was killed in an airplane crash in 1951. He was president of Alpha Sigma Nu and the Boosters’ Club as well as a member of the Sodality, now known as the Christian Life Communities during his time at JCU. Beaudry’s family and friends contributed to dedicate a shrine in his honor, which is located between Bernet Hall and the Boler School of Business. In 1951, the CLCs established the Beaudry Award to be given annually to a graduating senior who demonstrates a commitment to leadership and faith and exemplifies the Jesuit ideals. Students, faculty, administration and staff representatives nominate individuals as well as comprise the Beaudry Award Committee. Only graduating seniors may vote during cap and gown pick-up April 7-9, 2008. The winner will be presented with the award at commencement exercises. The Nominees: Alison Cyperski Major: Psychology and Sociology Fun Fact: Over the last three years at JCU, she has been the leader of a Christian Life Community. Bryan Mauk Major: Sociology Fun Fact: As a first-year student, Bryan was a co-founder of the St. Benedict Joseph Labre Project at JCU. Amanda Maggiotto Major: Psychology Fun Fact: Received a 2007 Catalyst for Change Scholarship Award from the American Association of University Women. Libby Bost Major: Biology Fun Fact: Took immersion trips to Duran, Ecuador; Immokalee, Fla.; New Orleans, La.; and Bethlehem Farm, W.Va. Marisa Benich Major: Psychology Fun Fact: Has been on the Dean’s List every semester she has been a student John Carroll University. Pat Carpenter Major: Early Childhood Education Fun Fact: Founding Father of JCU’s new fraternity, Beta Theta Pi.
