One word to describe this movie- raunchy. But this should be the least of your worries, unless you’d be interesting in watching a movie that is so repulsive, you’d swear sex off for days, or even weeks.

Dane Cook, Super Finger originator, plays the role of Charlie, a man living a dream, or so he thinks.

Starting from an innocent game of spin the bottle, a young Charlie is hoping to hit the jackpot and score seven minutes of heaven with the girl of his dreams at a friend’s birthday party.

While his best friend and sex educator, Stu (Dan Fogler from “Balls of Fury”), stands by his side, Charlie’s dreams are shattered as the bottle lands on the Goth Girl. Refusing to make out with the little she-devil, Charlie is cursed to never be happy, and to never love.

Fast forward twenty-something years and Charlie is just a normal guy, who can’t commit to a relationship. Still wary of that daunting four-letter word that most guys can’t seem to roll off their tongues, Charlie is just another happy bachelor. Charlie, who is a dentist, has an office located right next door to his best friend’s practice. Stu is a plastic surgeon.
While attending the wedding of a past girlfriend, Charlie unexpectedly becomes the center of attention. After toasting to Charlie, the bride thanks him for being her “good luck charm,” making Charlie the most eligible bachelor on earth.

Charlie’s voice mailbox fills with phone numbers and marriage-crazed women throw themselves at his feet. Though Charlie is initially stunned by all of the attention, Stu convinces him that he is doing a social service by sleeping with as many women as he can. Service in terms of helping them find true love.

But even after sleeping with hundreds of women, Charlie just can’t take his mind off the girl that he met at the wedding. Cam (Jessica Alba) was the one girl who didn’t see Charlie as her ticket to marriage, but simply treated him as a regular guy, leaving an impression that he could not forget.

As fate would have it, Cam needs some dental work after a freak accident occurs at the penguin exhibit where she works. Love soon blossoms, but Charlie avoids sleeping with Cam at all costs, fearing his luck could be a curse. Shocked by Charlie’s foolishness, Cam ends the relationship, leaving Charlie to prove his true love for her.

Like all romantic comedies, the good guy always gets the girl. But for “Good Luck Chuck,” the good guy just happens to sleep with every woman who hops in his bed.

Although it was an original idea, many movie-goers will simply be turned off by the script’s over-the-top sexuality. Cook’s scripted one-liners are stale, leaving most of the laughs to his outrageous co-star, Fogler. Cam’s brother, Joe (Lonny Ross), who works with her at the penguin exhibit, also adds some low-key humor.

In the end, Alba is breathtaking to stare at, but her character’s klutzy clichés and lack of comedic sensibility just don’t deliver.

If you’re looking for an “awesomely bad movie,” then this one might be right up your alley.

P.S. Make sure you stay for the ending credits, they’re priceless.

In 1974, Charles Bronson made it cool to take out deserving criminals and would-be muggers in his award-winning “Death Wish.” Now, it only seems fair that a female take her turn at being a one-woman vigilante squad that takes the law into her own hands.

Erica Bain (Jodie Foster) is a public radio personality who reads her own essays and stories on a New York City radio station. With a calm, thoughtful and carefully measured voice, Erica speaks to the city one listener at a time.

The movie starts off with Erica believing that her city, in her words, is “the safest big city in the world.”

Then comes that fateful night, when Erica’s paradise turns into a nightmare. As Erica and her fiancé, David, (“Lost’s” Naveen Andrews) are taking an evening stroll through Central Park with their dog, they are mugged by a trio of young thugs.

After being brutally attacked, Erica is left in a coma and her fiancé ends up dead, with everything caught on tape.

Weeks later Erica awakens from her coma to learn that her love is dead and buried.
As she lies in her hospital bed, slowly recovering from the punishment dealt by the hoodlums, she can do nothing but grow fierce with anger as she longs for vengeance. She is now a nobody, a stranger and her once beloved city has become a terribly hostile environment.

Once released from the hospital, she immediately seeks protection for herself.
After being turned away for not having legal documentation, she purchases an automatic pistol from the guy hanging around outside the gun store, who kindly throws in a free box of bullets. With her arsenal packed in her purse, it’s only a matter of time before she finds the opportunity to use it.

Fate provides her first victim, a crazed gunman in an all-night grocery store where Erica shops. A first-time shooter, Erica finally kills the man after firing a few stray shots.
In shock, she quickly grabs the surveillance tape and hightails it home, leaving top detectives Mercer and Vitale (Terrance Howard and the hilarious Nicky Katt) to inspect the scene.
Soon bodies start piling up everywhere, each exterminated by the same gun.
After spotting Erica near a crime scene, Detective Mercer becomes suspicious of the meek radio personality.

Before long, Mercer and Erica empathize with each other’s struggle and Mercer discovers his new friend’s secret. Knowing that Mercer is hot on her trail, she must decide whether her quest for revenge is truly the right path, or if she is becoming the very thing she is trying to stop.

Although the film does have some slow parts, like Erica and David’s horrible chemistry, the movie offers a very enjoyable experience. Indulging herself in the film’s character, Jodie Foster delivers the performance of her career (arguably her only good one), and matches up perfectly with the likable Terrance Howard.

Just like its predecessor, “The Brave One” allows the audience to decide who should win, the seemingly innocent, or how about the bad guys for once.

Why does it seem that all horror movies these days follow the same plot lines and contain the same clichés?

Why does it seem that all horror movies these days follow the same plot lines and contain the same clichés? A man and woman are traveling on a road trip through the night and mistakenly take a wrong turn to end up in a deserted town.

The friendly guy at the local gas station points the lost couple in the right direction, but has secretly done something to their car so it breaks down a mile down the road. Without any cell phone service, the only option is to stay at the Pinewood Motel.

David Fox (Luke Wilson) and wife Amy (Kate Beckinsale) trapped in their hotel room while murderers wait outside to execute them.

David Fox (Luke Wilson) and his wife, Amy (Kate Beckinsale), are a young couple that just don’t seem to be getting along. Ever since the unfortunate death of the couple’s only son, married life hasn’t been so happy. With the divorce papers almost signed, the two are off on their last adventure together to see the in-laws.

The creepy hotel manager Mason (Frank Whaley), doesn’t seem to notice the tension between the couple and kindly insists that they take the honeymoon suite.

Instead of finding the token heart-shaped jacuzzi, the room is filled with cockroaches, filthy linens and unlabeled videotapes that turn out to be snuff films. Even worse, the gruesome murders caught on tape were performed in their hotel room.

Now, they are trapped with killers outside waiting to execute them. So, the couple must explore their options. They can stay inside the room where they’re doomed to be slaughtered or make a run for it. Oh, but those bad guys are tricky. Mason, the weird hotel manager, has cameras set up all over the hotel to watch his victims’ every move. (Haven’t I seen this movie before?)

With nowhere to run, it looks like it’s only a matter of time until David and Amy are the stars of the next caught-on-tape killing. After searching around the hotel room for a way to escape, David stumbles upon a secret door that leads to an underground labyrinth. The two figure that the maze must lead somewhere safe, but it only gets them in more trouble.

Fast-forward a couple death scenes and you’ve got yourself another run-of-the-mill horror flick. Viewers are bound to be disappointed because every scene in the movie can be anticipated from the start.

And another thing, why do people always get shot or stabbed, but don’t die? You can’t come back from the dead! Bad casting, bad plot, bad idea. Give me my two hours back.

From the looks of it, “Disturbia” appears to be another teeny-bopper movie for high-strung teenagers looking for a little scare (the PG-13 rating might tip you off). On the contrary, “Disturbia” was consistently suspenseful and entertaining.

“Rear Window” was a movie directed by Alfred Hitchcock more than 50 years ago. The movie’s plot was about a man who was stuck inside his apartment for months due to a broken leg. He soon becomes helplessly bored, but finds entertainment by spying on his neighbors, only to eventually witness a murder occur through his rear window.

“Disturbia” offers a reinvention of this classic movie with a new-age twist and a fresh cast of young faces. The main character, Kale Brecht (Shia LaBeouf), is a troubled teen who is working through the tragedy of his father’s recent death.

Recently placed on house arrest, Kale (Shia LaBeouf), spends his free time spying on the cute girl next door and solving murder mysteries.

With his failing grades and lost touch with society, Kale lashes out at his teacher and ends up with three months of court-ordered house arrest.

Unable to stray farther than 10 feet from his front door, Kale seeks comfort in his XBox 360 and iTunes–until his mother cancels his accounts.

After he tires of watching television and creating sculptures out of junk food, Kale turns to watching the residents on his quiet street.

Day by day, Kale learns the habits and routines of his neighbors, especially those of Ashley (Sarah Roemer), the new girl next door.

With the help of Kale’s friend Ronnie (Aaron Yoo), and some video surveillance equipment, the two become modern age peeping toms. The boys shamelessly spy on Ashley while she swims and sunbathes and are eventually caught by her. To their disbelief, she actually takes an interest in their neighborhood spying hobby and joins the team (how convenient).

When reports of mysterious abductions appear on the local news, they realize that Mr. Turner (David Morse), the man next door, seems a little mysterious, and they continue to monitor his house for any suspicious behavior. The team conducts Internet searches on serial killers and set out to prove that Mr. Turner has something to do with the missing girls.

From the looks of it, “Disturbia” appears to be another teeny-bopper movie for high-strung teenagers looking for a little scare (the PG-13 rating might tip you off). On the contrary, “Disturbia” was consistently suspenseful and entertaining. The cast was believable and likeable and successfully delivered a thrilling experience with hints of humor thrown here and there. Shia LaBeouf gave an excellent performance and will use this movie as his vehicle into larger roles on bigger productions.

Though the movie will not win any awards, “Disturbia” was definitely a breath of fresh air and just might make you pay more attention to your own neighbors.

Anberlin has remained a relatively unknown band to the mainstream media. The quintet out of Orlando, FL formed in 2002 and was quickly signed to the Indie label, Tooth & Nail Records.

Today, Anberlin remains one of the label’s strongest selling artists along with fellow label mates MxPx, Emery and Underoath.

Anberlin’s third release, “Cities,” showcases a progressed sound and much more mature lyrics.

With Stephen Christian’s soaring vocals and Nathan Young’s pounding drum patterns, the group has been able to accumulate a very strong fan base with previous releases “Blueprints for the Black Market” and “Never Take Friendship Personal.”

Now with Anberlin’s newest release, “Cities,” fans will be floored by the band’s progressed sound and matured lyrics. If the band’s first two releases didn’t catch your attention, this one demands to be heard.

Although the band has been segmented into genres like alternative pop/rock and Christian rock, it is nearly impossible to find the field of music that truly defines Anberlin.

With songs that are high on adrenaline to slower romantic ballads, Stephen Christian’s versatile voice seems to tackle each note effortlessly. In an attempt to stray away from pop while remaining immensely catchy, “Cities” opens with the instrumental track “(Debut)” which leads to the high-intensity first single “Godspeed.”

As the CD moves on, emotions run high with songs that deal with love, loss and life. A particular favorite, “The Unwinding Cable Car” showcases Christian’s soothing voice and ingenious lyrics.

Displaying a darker side, “Reclusion,” with its screaming vocals and indelible speed, proves Anberlin is no pop sensation. Then the ultimate romantic ballad, “Inevitable,” shows the band’s softer side reminiscent of a summer love song.

A guaranteed fan favorite, “Dismantle.Repair,” engulfs all of Anberlin’s progression and evolution, with the lines “Hands, like secrets, are the hardest thing to keep from you/Lines and phrases, like knives, your words can cut me through.”

As the album closes with the epic “(*Fin),” complete with Christian’s mesmerizing vocals and a children’s choir, “Cities” leaves the listener begging for more. Lucky for you, there is a special edition of the album available, which includes three B-sides and a DVD that includes footage of Anberlin’s making of the album.

With so many over-produced bands on the radio today, it’s good to take a step back and listen to something that is original and heart-felt.

I promise you will not be disappointed with this album. You can thank me later after you’ve purchased it.

The return of Hannibal the Cannibal was inevitable. (Ha-Ha!) What intends to be an epic prequel to the trilogy of “The Silence of the Lambs,” “Hannibal,” and “Red Dragon” only turns out to be a sad excuse to build upon the franchise.

The stories of Dr. Hannibal Lecter are based on novels written by Thomas Harris, but this was the first to have its screenplay written by him as well.

Hannibal Rising tells the story of a teenage Hannibal Lecter and his sister Mischa after their parents are killed in World War II.

In Lithuania in 1944, the 8-year-old Hannibal Lecter and his younger sister, Mischa, are held captive by a gang of mercenary thugs during World War II.

Caught between German troops and the encroaching Russian army, the Lecters are forced to take refuge in a cabin in hopes of finding safety from the bitter cold and rumbling tanks.

Stranded in the cabin without provisions, the team of thugs, led by Grutas (Rhys Ifans), becomes desperate for food. Left without any options, the men feast on Mischa with young Hannibal standing by.
Ultimately, this is the moment Hannibal loses his innocence and promises Mischa to one day get revenge.

Fast-forward eight years and Hannibal (Gaspard Ulliel) has made his way to France. After being re-united with his widowed aunt, Lady Murasaki (Li Gong), Hannibal enrolls in medical school.
During his stay with his aunt, Hannibal turns into the next “Karate Kid” with afternoon lessons in martial arts and sword fighting.
As Lady Muraski and Hannibal spend more time together, a strong bond is formed with their shared desire for vengeance and a twisted sexual attraction.

Hannibal continues his studies at medical school, immersing himself in learning how the human body works (and what parts taste best).

After discovering the whereabouts of the men who ate his sister, Hannibal and Lady Murasaki set out to make things right in the world, by chopping them up into little bits-and-pieces.

Luckily, for Hannibal, the men still keep in close contact with one another and aren’t too tough to track down.

One-by-one the men are exterminated, with Lady Murasaki always there to clean up the mess. With Inspector Popil (Dominic West) hot on Hannibal’s trail throughout the entire movie, each gruesome murder is discovered by the police, and the monster known as “Hannibal-the-Cannibal” is targeted.

The movie drags on for an excruciating two hours of poor acting and pointless gore that adds no real incentive to even want to dig deeper into the mystery of Hannibal Lecter.

What tries to be a movie labeled as a “psychological thriller” leaves the viewer without any psychological twists or thrills.
