HUMMER H3T is built for versatility
The truck is set to make its debut at dealerships this fall.
If you’re in the market for a truck that can fit almost any lifestyle, then the new HUMMER H3T is the vehicle for you. H3T is the latest in the HUMMER family of vehicles scheduled to premier during the third quarter of 2008 in dealerships around the country.
Nicknamed “the most versatile HUMMER ever built” the new H3T is bigger than a midsize truck and smaller than a full-size truck, carving its own niche in the automobile market.
“Two days behind the wheel of this new HUMMER pickup has shown me just how good a vehicle this is,” said Bruce Smith, a writer for Truck Trend magazine. “It’s ideal for those who want that HUMMER look without sacrificing anything in the utility value and performance.”
Descended from the company’s popular H3 model, the H3T features a crew cab and a separate five-foot-long bed. It also includes many features that are classic to the HUMMER brand.
These include standard full-time four-wheel drive for off-road capability and a comfortable and functional premium interior. A total of four models are being offered. Two include the five-cylinder engine option. The other two include HUMMER’s popular V8-powered Alpha edition, which allows the car to tow up to 5,900 pounds.
The bed of the H3T is similar to full-size truck beds and is able to carry a wide variety of items. Motocross bikes, camping gear, ski equipment, bicycles and kayaks are no match for this HUMMER truck.
The H3T also includes one of the industry’s largest portfolios of accessories to use with the bed. Created to suit active lifestyles, items such as an adjustable bike chock and bed extender help set the H3T apart from other trucks in the industry. In total, over 75 HUMMER genuine accessories are offered.
HUMMER also partnered with other automotive aftermarket companies to develop over 50 additional HUMMER accessories – a first for the brand. All items help to expand the possibilities for personalizing the H3T to attract a wider variety of customers.
Interior features also focus on the customer’s lifestyle. Upgraded audio systems, XM Satellite Radio, OnStar, Turn-By-Turn Navigation and Bluetooth connectivity are all available. Rear Vision, which uses a camera mounted to the rear bumper, is another feature HUMMER has added to make driving easier and safer.
The H3T continues the tradition of a broad safety system. The truck was designed to protect passengers in the event of a vehicle-to-vehicle crash with its firm body structure.
It also comes with frontal and head curtain side-impact air bags, anti-lock brakes on all four wheels, traction control, a tire pressure monitoring system, StabiliTrak electronic vehicle stability control system and latch rear child seat anchors.
The H3T was premiered at the Chicago Auto Show, but took a backseat to the release of the 2009 Chevy Traverse.
“Considering how the H3T is sporting an elongated wheelbase and a five-foot long bed, it remains one of a few significant unveilings here in Chi-town,” said Damon Lavrinc, a writer for the popular auto industry Web site Autoblog.com.
Though the exact numbers are not out yet, a major downfall of the new H3T could be poor gas mileage. Previous HUMMER vehicles have gotten as little as 13 city miles per gallon and only 16 highway miles per gallon.
