After three long years, Lady Gaga has released her greatly anticipated single, “Perfect Illusion.” The song has been highly anticipated by many of her fans around the world. Many of her fans have even made jokes about the singer regarding how long it takes for her to release her music.
With the song coming out, many people speculate that the song was only made for the popular TV show “American Horror Story.” The song would tie into the newest theme, “American Horror Story: Roanoke,” giving fans of the show a feel for what the season has in store.
“Perfect Illusion” has a sound that Gaga has always admired. Gaga has been a fan of rock music and she has never been afraid of branching out into different genres.
Gaga takes a chance with her music in whatever way she can, whether it be visual or lyrical. The sound of “Perfect Illusion” resembles the rock music she loves to sing and dance to, giving fans a different side of Gaga.
As many people have stated, the song is far from what they expected Gaga to release. Some people have said that the song isn’t as good as they anticipated for how long she has not released music, while others argue that the sound and theme are a direct reflection of what Gaga wants to put out into the world, no matter how long it took for her to release the song.
Gaga discussed the meaning behind “Perfect Illusion” on iHeartRadio, saying, “I think the most obvious meaning is how love is the most intoxicating drug in the world. It can just make you feel so high that you don’t even realize that you’re in a relationship that it isn’t real. You know, our modern struggle with human connection when it comes to social media and endless running of images on Instagram and Twitter and other social media, we are all kind of creating these perfect illusions of ourselves that we’re either trying to keep up with or maybe having trouble keeping up with other people’s illusions and unable to find what’s authentic in the sea of all that.”
Alongside releasing her new single, Gaga also announced her new album title, cover and release date. The highly anticipated LG5 has been officially named “Joanne,” after her father’s sister who had passed away at the age of 19 due to lupus.
Gaga appeared on a Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show Thursday morning and spoke about the importance of her aunt Joanne in her family, “The death of her in his family and his life really left a scar and a wound that never healed. And as I returned to my home life and spending time with my friends, and hanging out with my family, and getting out of the mainstream limelight for a minute, what I realized is it’s the experiences of our family, and our challenges, and our toughness that make us who we are. So she is the woman of my past that is becoming and helping me bring more of my honest woman-self into the future.”
“Joanne” is expected to be released Oct. 21 for the general public. Get out your 12 inch heels, your giant egg vessel and get ready for a whole new pop celebration to start. This will be the next generation of Little Monsters to come.
