Doubles play sets tone in victory over Otterbein

In Westerville, doubles set the tone for the John Carroll University Men’s Tennis match against Otterbein University.


Both squads enjoyed close matches throughout the afternoon, but JCU earned the upper hand in all three.


Junior Jad Abdul-Aal and freshman David Sinense proved victorious over the Otterbein senior due of David Seckel and Will Wilson for the #1 match with a score of 8-6. The #2 team freshman Tyler Cole and junior Nick Siciliano and the #3 team junion Scott Adsit and freshman Dillon O’Brien won both matches with 8-5 scores.


Abdul-Aal furthered his notable spring with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep over Wilson in #1 singles. Sinense fought the longer battle against Seckle but prevailed, bringing home a 0-6, 7-6 (7-4), 12-10 win in #2 singles. The Blue Streaks enjoyed a sweep in the rest of singles play thanks to the performances of Siciliano at #3 singles, Cole at #4 singles and Adsit at #5 singles. All victories were earned in straight sets, contributing to Otterbein’s defeat.
