The John Carroll University volleyball team traveled to New Concord, Ohio on Saturday, Oct. 31. The team was looking to finish strong with two final matches before postseason play against Muskingum University and out of conference foe, Denison University.
JCU would have to win against Muskingum to achieve a three or four seed and secure a home game to start the playoffs. However, fate was not on their side. Muskingum rode some highly efficient play to a 3-0 sweep, allowing them to get the fourth seed and dropping JCU to fifth.
Following the loss to the Fighting Muskies, the team enjoyed a nice 3-0 victory over Denison to finish out the season on a high note, but this win would not mean anything toward the team’s placement in postseason play.
The Blue Streaks faced off against Muskingum for the second time in four days in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinals on Tuesday, Oct. 3.
Despite falling to the Fighting Muskies 3-0 on Saturday, the Blue Streaks did not back down from the moment and swept Muskingum in their Tuesday matchup, 3-0, setting themselves up for their second consecutive OAC Tournament semifinal appearance.
