JCU Men’s Track Team Finishes Third at OAC Championship

Saturday marked the 2015 Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships. It was a showcase of some of the best teams and athletes across the nation.


The Blue Streaks had a strong showing over the two-day event at the University of Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio. The hosting school won the title with 190 points, narrowly beating Ohio Northern University with 181. JCU placed third with 124, while Otterbein University finished with 94, and Heidelberg University rounded out the top five with 65 points.


Rocky Miloto continued his strong senior campaign with an attack on the school record board. Saturday, he won the conference in shot put and finished third in hammer. His winning throw in shot put was 16.86m, which won by over two meters. His best throw in hammer was 54.58m enough All-AOC honors.


Vince Minniti also placed well in shot put, placing seventh with a mark of 13.56 meters.


Hayes Chrispin put in a valiant effort in triple jump. His best jump was 13.35 meters which earned him fifth place.


The Blue Streaks excelled at the hurdle events this weekend as well. In the 110-meter, Nick Williams placed second in 15.01 to earn All-AOC honors. While Frankie Caponi finished fifth in 15.78.


The 400-meter race had two Blue Streaks scoring, as Williams was an All-AOC performer by placing third in 55.20 and Chrispin finished six in 56.84.


Jonathan Radney had a big day as well, he took part in three scoring efforts. He was sixth in the 100-mer dash (11.08), eight in the 200 (22.83) and joined Ausin Mcllvaine, Capone, and Nick Woods to take fourth in the 4×100 relay (42.66)


Nick Banks (6th, 4:02.10) and John Cameron (8th, 4:02.99) aided the cause for JCU in the 1500-meter run.


Cameron, Banks, Michael Hydzik and Michael Hurley closed out the meet with an All-OAC effort in the 4×400 relay. Their time was 7:51.42.
