The John Carroll University men’s golf team hosted their first match of the year at the River Greens Golf Course in West Lafayette, Ohio this past weekend as the Blue Streaks faced off against Ohio Athletic Conference rival Baldwin Wallace University.

A tight match throughout, the Yellow Jackets prevailed, shooting a 304 as a team and besting JCU by three strokes.

Blue Streak sophomore Mark Chrzanowski won the match as an individual. Chrzanowski shot a 2-under par 70, finishing three strokes better than the next closest competitor.

“I hope to use my weekend’s performance as momentum for the rest of the fall and spring season,” said Chrzanowski. “Shooting low at River Greens has given me confidence in myself to keep performing at a high level. I am confident, not only in myself, but in my teammates, to come back to River Greens in the Spring and win a bid to Nationals. That is the ultimate goal and I know we are capable of achieving it.”

Freshman phenom Andrew Britton put together a fine round of his own shooting a 2-over par 74 and finishing in third place overall.

Junior Dom Patella (6th place, 77 strokes) and freshman John Schnur (7th,79) also placed in the top 10 for the Blue Streaks.
