Hosting their only tournament of the year, the John Carroll University women’s golf team hosted the John Carroll Invitational at the Eagle Creek Golf Course over the weekend, finishing in eighth place with an overall team score of 766.

The University of St.Francis (IN) took home the tournament crown by shooting an overall team score of 685.

For the Blue Streaks, junior Jackie Weisenberger and freshman Adrienne Metzger were the lone top 30 finishers over the two-day weekend. Weisenberger shot a 176 over the weekend, good enough for 13th place. Metzger placed 26th while shooting a 185.

Freshman Michele Whiteleather (32nd place, 189 strokes), sophomore Amelia Roche (56th, 209) and freshman Liz Tryjankowski (63rd, 239) also took part in the invitational for the Blue Streaks and put up solid performances despite the tough weather conditions.

“The hard winds were no question the hardest thing to compete with this past weekend,” said Metzger. “I had to be aware if I was playing with or against the wind to make accurate, controlled shots. The wind is a frustrating factor that changes the ball flight at any given moment so it was important to play it safe or end up in trouble.”
