April 30th, 2014

Over the weekend of April 25-26, John Carroll University’s women’s golf team competed in the Ohio Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Championships at the Columbia Country Club in Columbia Station, Ohio.

Finishing seventh out of eight total teams, the Blue Streaks contributed solid rounds across the board, the best of which came from sophomore Jackie Weisenberger who managed to nab a top three finish overall with a final two-round score of 179 strokes.

Weisenberger was honored after the OAC Tournament, earning second team All-OAC for her efforts throughout the season.

“The final match of the season was very exciting for me,” said Weisenberger. “It was great to be in the running for first place. I thought the season was a great learning experience, and I really feel like I grew as a player. I’m looking forward to the future and making a name out of JCU golf.

Along with Weisenberger, seniors Katie Corbitt (210 strokes, 27th place) and Maggie Hutchison (217 strokes, 34th place) and freshman Amelia Roche (213 strokes, 30th place) also competed for the Blue and Gold, putting in solid efforts to cap of their season.
