John Carroll University’s women’s tennis team put on a dominant display on Saturday, April 26 over Marrieta College. This performance was especially impressive as they did not drop a single set throughout the entire match.
The team started out strong with sophomores Catherine Engel and Anna Stein not dropping a single set taking their doubles game 8-0. In the number two spot for doubles teams, freshman Katherine Devine and junior Tracy Gibson came out and showed what they can do taking home the 8-2 win. Finally, in the third spot for the Blue and Gold the freshman tag team of Ivana Didovic and Kelsie Doran gave JCU the clean sweep for doubles with their 8-3 victory.
With the singles matches on their plate now, the Blue Streaks did not ease up. Engel was first up and built off her excellent performance from doubles as she took her match with a 6-0, 6-2 win. Devine, in the number two spot, kept it rolling with 6-1 and 6-0 victories. Up third for JCU was Gibson who provided another winning contribution with a 6-2,6-4 victory.
Stein followed Gibson and dealt a clean sweep to her opposing Quaker. Didovic and freshman Josephine Miller were the last two competitors for JCU as they both helped John Carroll close out the match and provided two match victorys sealing the 9-0 match victory for the Blue Streaks.
