The National Senior Games will be held in Cleveland this summer from July 19 through Aug. 1. The events will take place at various locations throughout the city, such as Cleveland State University and the recently built Cleveland Convention Center. These competitions are specifically for participants who are senior citizens. The first National Senior Games took place in 1987 in St. Louis, Missouri. At these particular games, 2,500 athletes participated. Last year’s games in Houston, Texas saw over 10,000 participants. In the summer of 2013, a variety of games will take place including archery, volleyball, and table tennis.
The National Senior Games Association is looking for volunteers for this event, including current students at John Carroll University. Lauren Grys, a graduate of JCU, is in charge of the volunteers for these events. Individuals as well as groups can sign up to volunteer at this year’s games. Those interested should contact email@example.com or visit www.nsga.com for more information.
