February 25th, 2010

John Carroll University announced Tom Brokaw as the keynote commencement speaker for the 2010 graduation ceremony on Feb. 23. Brokaw, currently a special correspondent for NBC, will also receive an honorary degree from the University.

Brokaw has served in various capacities at NBC, including White House Correspondent and anchor and managing editor of NBC Nightly News. He additionally served as interim moderator of Meet the Press after the death of the program’s moderator, JCU alumnus Tim Russert.

“Tim was a close friend of Mr. Brokaw and the John Carroll University community,” said JCU President the Rev. Robert Niehoff, S.J. “Having Mr. Brokaw serve as our 2010 commencement speaker will be especially meaningful to all of us since, in Tim’s honor last year, we named [our CO department] the Tim Russert Department of Communication and Theatre Arts.”

The graduation ceremony will take place Sunday, May 23, at noon on the Rodman Hall Terrace.
