Junior Katie Sheridan was elected as the new editor in chief of The Carroll News on Nov. 12.
Sheridan began writing for The Carroll News during her freshman year. She has previously served as an editor for the Features and Campus sections. Most recently Sheridan served as Managing Editor.
Sheridan, a communications major and business minor, recently completed a communications internship with Susan G. Komen for the Cure. This January she will attend the Campus Coverage Project, a conference at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism about covering news on college campuses.
Sheridan is excited to take on her new leadership on The Carroll News staff.
“I look forward to working with the staff. I think this group has a lot of talent and will work hard to keep The Carroll News an award-winning newspaper,” said Sheridan.
Current editor in chief Rachel Szuch, who graduates in December, is confident Sheridan will succeed.
“Katie is a strong journalist whose dedication never ceases to amaze me. I am confident that her transition from managing editor to editor in chief will be seamless,” said Szuch.
